How to compress a PDF without uploading it

Drop a PDF, pick a compression level, download. The file never leaves the tab.

Most “compress PDF online” sites take the file, store it long enough to recompress it, then let you download. That is fine for a flyer. It is a bad idea for anything with an ID, a salary, or a medical page.

You do not need a server for this. A browser can re-encode the images inside a PDF and write a smaller file back to disk.

Do it on UnlimitedPDF

  1. Open Compress PDF.
  2. Drop one or more PDFs. They stay in this tab.
  3. Pick a level: Low (best quality), Recommended (balanced), or High (smallest, flattens pages to images).
  4. Download the result. Several files zip into one download.

Recommended keeps text selectable. High is for when email or a portal still refuses the size — text will not stay selectable because pages are flattened.

There is no file size cap on our side. If the tab runs out of memory, try a desktop browser or split the PDF first with Split.

UnlimitedPDF processes files in your browser. Nothing in these guides requires an upload.
