A PDF workshop that does not take the file

UnlimitedPDF (UnlimitedPDF.app) is a free set of PDF and image tools that run entirely in your web browser. Compress a PDF, merge files, split pages, convert PDF to Word, turn photos into a PDF, export pages to JPG, resize images, or check a PDF for leftover hidden text, without creating an account and without sending the document to a server.

Who runs it

UnlimitedPDF is built and run by Eli F., an independent developer based in Canada. It is a one-person project, not a company with a sales team.

I built it because I kept needing to shrink or combine documents that I did not want to upload anywhere: ID scans, signed leases, pay stubs. The usual free PDF site uploads the file, processes it on a machine you do not control, and then limits the file size or the number of jobs once the tool becomes useful. A modern browser can do most of that work on your own device, so this site does it that way.

How it works

Processing uses the File API, canvas, pdf-lib, PDF.js, and Web Workers inside the browser tab. There is no file-upload endpoint on this site. You can check this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run a tool. Your file is not sent anywhere.

Who it is for

Students attaching a reading packet that is too large for the course portal. Freelancers combining invoices. Anyone with a signed PDF who does not want a random converter keeping a copy. People who hit a size limit or a login wall elsewhere and wanted the same job done without the trade.

What it does not do

It does not store your files, and it cannot, because they never reach a server. It does not sell document contents. There is no subscription and no paid tier. Ads on the pages, served by Google AdSense, pay for hosting and keep the tools free; a download is never locked behind an ad. The privacy policy explains the ads and cookies.

The guides

The guides are written from tests run with these tools on generated and public sample files. Each one says how and when it was measured, and where a tool fell short, the guide says so.

• Merge PDF: combine files and drop pages.
• Split PDF: extract pages or split every page into its own file.
• PDF to Word: rebuild a PDF as an editable .docx, with English OCR for scans.
• JPG to PDF: turn photos into a PDF on Fit, A4, or Letter pages.
• PDF to JPG: export pages as images.
• Image Resize: resize photos to exact sizes and presets.
• PDF X-Ray: look for hidden text, old versions, and metadata.
