Why people use Image Resize without uploading
Instagram’s current recommended feed post is 1080×1440 (3:4). Square 1080×1080 still works. Stories are 1080×1920. Shipping a 4000-pixel phone photo wastes data and gets cropped by the app. This resizer runs in the browser, with optional JPEG/WebP compression in the same pass.
How to use Image Resize on this page
- Drop JPG, PNG, or WebP files.
- Use a preset (Instagram post 3:4, square, 4:5, story) or type exact pixels or a percentage.
- Keep aspect ratio on unless you intend to stretch.
- Optional: turn on compress and set quality. Several images download as a ZIP.
What this tool keeps — and what it does not
PNG stays PNG unless you compress to JPEG/WebP. Transparency is kept on PNG. We do not upload, so EXIF/GPS is only as present as the file you download — we strip nothing extra unless the chosen output format does not carry it (WebP/JPEG re-encode typically drops most EXIF).
Limits, failed files, and honest tradeoffs
We do not upscale “AI sharpness.” Enlarging a 400-pixel image to 1080px will look soft. For PDF pages, export with PDF to JPG at 2× first, then resize. Batch jobs of dozens of 12 MP photos are happier on a laptop than on a mid-range phone.
